Ballyportry Castle – 15th Century Tower House

Corofin, County Clare

About Ballyportry Castle

Ballyportry Castle in County Clare offers guests an authentic yet utterly stylish stay in a 15th century tower house.  Set over six floors, the castle is able to accommodate up to eight guests in six bedrooms, with its modern day comforts (such as underfloor heating and two kitchens) not detracting from the historic ambience created by the current owners.

A spiral stone staircase winds its way to the atmospheric Great Hall at the top of the tower where guests can relax, dine and entertain or simply just marvel at the medieval stone, exposed oak roof trusses and mesmerising fireplace.

From Ballyportry Castle Website:

'Rising bluntly out of the craggy landscape, Ballyportry is the finest example in Ireland of a complete medieval Gaelic Tower House. Built in the 15th century it has been beautifully restored with careful attention being paid to retaining all its original features and style, yet with the comforts of the 21st century'.
