Galgorm Resort Awarded Prestigious AA 5-Star Status as Gillies Restaurant Earns Rosette
Galgorm, Northern Ireland’s premier luxury destination, has officially joined the elite ranks of AA 5-star resorts following recognition at the 2025 AA Hospitality Awards. The accolade marks a new milestone for the resort, which has long been celebrated for its world-class facilities, opulent accommodation, and exceptional service. Adding to the evening’s success, the resort’s much-loved Gillies restaurant was also honoured with an AA Rosette, further cementing Galgorm’s reputation as a leading name in luxury hospitality.
Just 30 minutes from Belfast yet set within 450 acres of serene parkland on the banks of the River Maine, Galgorm has become synonymous with indulgence and exclusivity. Guests can choose from an array of sumptuous accommodation options, including 125 elegantly appointed guestrooms, a collection of stylish cottages, log cabins, residences, and the recently launched £3 million Forest Dens — an enchanting retreat that blends contemporary comfort with a deep connection to nature.
The recognition reflects the Galgorm Collection’s dedication to excellence across its portfolio. Alongside Galgorm’s awards, sister property The Old Inn in Crawfordsburn was named AA Hotel of the Year, underlining the group’s influence on Northern Ireland’s luxury tourism landscape.
Commenting on the achievements, Colin Johnston, CEO of Galgorm Collection, said:
“These awards reflect the hard work and professionalism of everyone across Galgorm Collection. Our mission is to provide more than a stay – offering guests exceptional hospitality while minimising environmental impact. These recognitions motivate us to continue raising standards.”
This latest honour adds to an impressive list of accolades. Galgorm has been celebrated among The Sunday Times’ 100 Great Places to Stay in Ireland, The Irish Independent’s Hot 100 of Best Hotels in Ireland, and was crowned Spa of the Year for Western Europe and Scandinavia at the World Spa & Wellness Awards.
Beyond luxury, Galgorm has also become a pioneer in sustainable hospitality, achieving Green Tourism Gold and Green Meetings Gold certification in 2023, then a first for any hotel in Northern Ireland. With a £40 million expansion plan underway through 2027, the resort continues to elevate its offerings while championing responsible tourism.
From hosting prestigious international events such as the ISPS HANDA World Invitational and the World Luxury Spa & Restaurant Awards, to welcoming discerning guests seeking an unforgettable five-star experience, Galgorm is setting the standard for luxury in Northern Ireland and beyond.
