Entrepreneur Norman Crowley to Electrify Iconic Jaguar E-type
In great news for both the Irish luxury sector and the [otherwise quiet] car production industry in Ireland, serial entrepreneur Norman Crowley has announced that his Electrifi business will be working with UK-based Evolution E-Types to create a fully electric version of the iconic Jaguar model – once described as “the most beautiful car ever made” by none other than Enzo Ferrari.
The Jaguar E-type will be available as an aluminium bodied roadster with hood, hardtop or fixed head coupe, with all the same refinements which make Evolution models so unique. The overall weight of the car will remain the same, with the power output restricted to 450bhp (the fastest original E Type had about 280 BHP) which is aimed at achieving an acceleration performance of 0-60mph in less than 4.0 seconds & a top speed of 165 mph.
Having already enjoyed a great degree of success with various ventures, Mr Crowley founded energy-efficiency business Crowley Carbon in 2009. The Wicklow-based business (of which Electrifi is part) employs over 250 staff in 10 locations and is currently building anElectrifi plant in Crowley Carbon’s headquarters in the beautiful Powerscourt Estate, Co. Wicklow.
The development of such an iconic piece of motoring history in to an electric vehicle is likely to continue creating positive headlines for Ireland's luxury sector – particularly as the electrification of cars is such an important issue.
As Electrifi's expertise extends to the 'conversion' of various other makes and models of classic cars in to electric vehicles, it's likely that demand for their services will increase exponentially in coming years.
