Lough Eske Castle Unveils The Donegal Suites: A Celebration of Luxury and Local Craftsmanship

Nestled within 43 acres of ancient woodland on the shores of Lough Eske, against the dramatic backdrop of the Blue Stack Mountains, Lough Eske Castle has long been one of Ireland’s most enchanting five-star retreats. Now, the award-winning hotel has elevated its offering with the unveiling of The Donegal Suites — 25 brand-new accommodations designed to marry luxury with a deep sense of place.

Each suite draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of Donegal, with interiors shaped by a collaboration between the castle and iconic family-owned brand Magee 1866. A bespoke tweed, woven at Magee’s historic mill on the River Eske, provides a striking centrepiece: a rich burnt orange and salt-and-pepper wallscape that evokes the colours and textures of the surrounding landscape. Crafted from 100% woollen yarn, the design brings warmth, texture, and timeless elegance to the new rooms.

The suites have been created with indulgence in mind. Guests can enjoy four-poster beds, roll-top baths, fireplaces, and modern touches such as 50-inch smart TVs and Bluetooth connectivity. These spacious new accommodations are ideal for special occasions, multigenerational getaways, or simply a luxurious escape to Donegal’s unspoiled countryside.

Lough Eske Castle has also placed a spotlight on local artistry, with furnishings and amenities showcasing the work of Sliabh Liag Distillers, McNutt of Donegal, McGonigle Glass Studio, Kevin Callaghan Pottery, The Donegal Chocolate Man, Kinnegar Brewing, and celebrated artists including Patrick Murphy and David Mitchell.
