About Restaurant Chestnut

Set in a charming former pub in a small village in West Cork, Restaurant Chestnut gained its first Michelin Star just six months after opening in March 2018.  Owner and Head Chef Rob Krawczyk grew up locally and cooks ingredients from the region whilst taking inspiration from his Polish father's knowledge of curing, smoking and fermenting.  The successful result; wonderful, seasonally inspired, tasting menus.

'Restaurant Chestnut is a small intimate restaurant located in a character filled former pub in Ballydehob.

Inspired by nature and the landscape that surrounds us, our menu is designed around the finest ingredients that ae seasonally best.  Grown, raised and gathered from West Cork's spectacular rich larder and from the island of Ireland.  We constantly strive to work with nature and to have a minimal waste approach.

Rob grew up just a few miles down the road from our restaurant.  Rob learnt his skills of curing, smoking, and fermenting from his father Frank.  His father's Polish heritage, his family's culinary history along with his mothers artistry have influenced his cooking.

We opened our door on March 30th 2018.  On October 1st 2018, Restaurant Chestnut was awarded one Michelin star for Ireland and GB.'
