About Smithstown Castle
Smithstown Castle (also Ballynagowan Castle) is a cosy, lovingly-restored, 15th century castle in Kilshanny, County Clare. Available as a vacation rental for up to 8 guests, the characterful property is one of only a few castles in the West of Ireland to have survived into our times. With a Gothic fireplace in the Great Hall, the original stone spiral staircase still in use and a banquet-worthy double-height dining room and kitchen, Smithstown Castle provides guests with an authentic taste of life in the 15th century without compromising on modern day comforts.
